Estate
Includes recoveries for:
County/Internal Probate Estate: Claims made by county agencies in probate actions and voluntary payments made upon sale of real property.
Notice of Potential Claim (NPC): Recovery achieved by filing a notice of potential claim against a client's interest in real property when a Medical Assistance Lien cannot be enforced or within one year of a client's death. An NPC becomes enforceable as a lien against real property upon the client's death or upon filing, whichever is later.
Pooled Trust: The remainder of a beneficiary recovery from a MA client's interest in a pooled trust upon death.
Annuities: Recovery from an annuity or annuities owned by an MA long-term client and/or the client's spouse upon death.
Special Needs Trust: The remainder of a beneficiary recovery from an MA client's special needs trust upon the client's death.
Lien (Medical Assistance)
Recovery from real property an MA client owns after an MA client enters a medical institution.
Non-Acute Bed Days
Days when an individual does not need to be in the hospital, and is well enough to leave and have care provided at home.
Post Payment
Includes recoveries for:
Medicare Revenue Enhancement Program (MREP): DHS monitors nursing home claims to make sure providers bill Medicare for Minnesota Health Care Program (MHCP) clients who have Medicare coverage.
Health Insurance: Recoveries received as a result of DHS billing directly to health insurance carriers.
Medical Support: Recoveries received from parents who are court ordered to pay a portion of a child's medical care.
MA Client Contribution: This reflects recoveries received from MHCP clients who have received payments from their insurance carriers.
Tort
DHS makes and collects claims against insurance companies for no-fault auto, personal injury, worker's compensation, products liability, mass tort claims, and any other claim, etc. where DHS has paid medical and/or cash benefits as a result of an injury incurred by a client.
